Back in February, I was enjoying a meal with friends at one of my favorite restaurants in Atlantic City and we began discussing the shift in town with regard to fine dining. While A.C.’s struggles are no secret, one thing keeping the casinos afloat is that they have become destinations for gourmands. Folks who don’t gamble regularly have no problem rolling the dice on an unforgettable meal.
By now, you know the big names drawing attention to the scene: Wolfgang, Flay, Garces, to name a few. But, A.C.’s dining scene has become about more than just jaw-dropping restaurants with big ticket names attached. There are plenty of chefs that you don’t know, creating masterful plates just steps away from the casino floor. In an effort to showcase these wonderful eateries, we have chosen what we feel to be the 20 best, including a few on the other side of the bridge that may not be along the shoreline, but are still making plenty of waves. Turn to Page 82 to find out where you should be making a reservation and what to order whether you hit the jackpot or are down on your luck.
On Page 66, you’ll meet this year’s Awesome Attorneys—235 of the top legal minds in South Jersey. We also spent a day with some absolutely stunning Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders for a holiday fashion shoot. If you think these beautiful women look good on the sidelines, wait until you see them on Page 76. And what better way to close out 2013 than with an interview with our cover man Rod Stewart? The accomplished singer has been a fixture in the music industry for decades and spoke with us ahead of his concert in Philly this month about his music, his personal life, and why he’s not even close to winding down his career.
From all us at South Jersey Magazine, we wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. The magazine has some truly amazing things planned for 2014 and we can’t wait to share them with you.
