The Center for Skin Refinement
Dr. Karen Harkaway
The latest trend in aesthetic dermatology is to combine procedures and products for a “liquid facelift” that is very natural in appearance, and utilizes the newest treatment options to their fullest potential. For example, rather than undergo a costly and potentially risky traditional facelift, a patient may opt to utilize Botox® for lines of the upper face, filler such as Juvederm® or Radiesse® for lines around the lips and to augment the cheeks, and laser treatments to get rid of brown and red spots. Such a multifocal approach leads to beautiful, natural results and has the advantage of addressing each person’s specific needs individually. Additionally, this ongoing approach to the aging process allows women and men to age gracefully and maximizes each person’s ability to look their best at any age.

Advancements have been fast and furious, with regard to gastrointestinal disorders. Techniques can now be done utilizing an endoscope, and therapies are accomplished without major surgery.
A revolutionary new instrument called the “spy glass” places a camera into the bile ducts to visualize abnormalities for patients with gallstones or pancreatitis. Physicians now also have a “magic capsule” swallowed by a patient to take photographs of the small bowel, looking for abnormalities, making it easier to treat and enabling patients to have a better life.

Shore Memorial Hospital
In September, Shore Memorial Hospital opened its new surgical pavilion, the centerpiece of a $125 million expansion that’s the largest in the hospital’s history. The surgical pavilion adds a new level of high-tech, quality diagnosis and treatment to the caring, patient centric values that have served as Shore’s foundation for over 70 years.
The principles on which the surgical pavilion were based can be found in the philosophy of Planetree, a non-profit organization that has pioneered methods for personalizing, humanizing and demystifying the healthcare experience for patients and their families; a group that believes physical environments can enhance healing, health and well being.
The surgical pavilion features nine state-of-the-art surgical suites, cardiac catheterization labs, endoscopy center, bronchoscopy suite, outpatient testing and admissions center, and a variety of physician and family lounges. The expansion includes a three-story medical offices building and 640-space self-park garage, both linked to the surgical pavilion via a 2nd Floor crossover.
In July 2011, Shore opened its new Pediatric Care Center, the first of its kind in New Jersey. It features a dedicated and separate pediatric emergency treatment area and in-patient pediatric rooms. Children are seen by highly-skilled pediatric emergency department nurses and board certified emergency department physicians in consultation with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) pediatricians who are on site 24/7.

South Jersey Fertility Center
Dr. Dorette J. Noorhasan
Infertility is a prevalent and sensitive issue affecting as much as 17% of couples. Yet, the stigma of the diagnosis causes many couples to not seek diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. However, couples fail to realize that many of their friends are suffering from the same diagnosis but no one is talking.
At South Jersey Fertility Center, we offer a wide array of treatment including clomid, gonadotropins, insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and surgical treatment. IVF is the treatment of choice for severe tubal disease and male factor. IVF can be combined with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for severe male factor infertility and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for couples who are carriers of a disease but want to avoid having a child with the full-blown disease.

We have had the ability to freeze human embryos (fertilized eggs) successfully since about 1984, it is only in the past decade that we have gained the technology to successfully freeze human eggs with good clinical outcomes. Vitrification of human eggs has been shown to result in survival rates and clinical outcomes similar to fresh eggs. The beauty of this technological breakthrough is that we may freeze eggs for women anticipating cancer therapy, or for women who delay childbearing.

Anu Medical Spa
Dr. Anu Momi
Pellevé™ is the newest FDA skin tightening procedure to safely and effectively treat facial wrinkles without surgery. Using advanced radiowave technology, the Pellevé™ system precisely heats the deep layers of the skin without damaging the epidermis, or top layer. The heat causes the collagen in the skin to contract and tighten. After treatment, the skin begins to produce new collagen, which improves skin firmness. The result is a naturally refreshed appearance.
Unlike other skin tightening systems, Pellevé™ doesn’t require anesthesia or skin cooling, so patients can return to work immediately after the procedure. Many people start to see results after just one treatment, with lasting improvement in skin tightness and tone for up to six months. Because a full facial treatment takes only about an hour with little, if any, recovery time, Pellevé™ fits easily into busy schedules.
At our location, Pellevé™ is performed by Dr. Anu Momi, a board certified physician.

Voorhees Neurology Care, PC
Dr. William Wolfe
Migraines or headaches are a chronic neurologic disorder, characterized by moderate-to-severe head pain and nausea. The newest treatment for chronic headaches or migraines is Botox®. It is approved in adults with chronic migraines, greater than 15 days per month with the headache lasting 4 hours a day or longer. Usually these patients have failed multiple preventative treatments. Botox® is injected at 5 unit doses in specified locations in the head and neck. It is also expected to last up to three months but differs from patient to patient. A chronic migraine is a debilitating disorder but often under recognized. 80% of patients who meet the definition of chronic migraine do not receive an accurate diagnosis and may be unaware of treatment options available such as Botox®.
Patients with chronic headaches and migraines should seek medical advice with a neurologist or other specialist who works closely with headache patients.

Dr. Thomas Kadar
One of the recent advancements is the use of digital scans to replace traditional impression methods. Our digital scanner eliminates the goop, gagging and discomfort that patients often hated about traditional methods. At Kadar Orthodontics, teen and adult Invisalign® patients don’t have to dread gagging on impressions because Invisalign now accepts images from our digital impression scanner. Invisalign is a great way for teens and adults to discreetly move their teeth using invisible, removable aligners. And, because our digital scans are transferred electronically, the process of creating custom-fit aligners begins sooner. Many of our Invisalign patients are in their first aligner within three weeks of their scan! We are proud to be the only Invisalign provider in our area using a digital impression scanner! The combination of these two technologies enables us to create great Kadar Smiles, faster and easier than ever. A few months, a new life.

South Jersey Radiology Associates, PA
Dr. William F. Muhr, Jr. SJRA has always been at the forefront of technology and we are excited about the latest technological advancements, 3-D breast imaging, known as tomosynthesis.
Tomosynthesis creates a series of images through the breast as opposed to a traditional mammogram. It is particularly helpful for women with dense breast tissue. Early clinical studies suggest improved cancer detection and decreased mammography call back rates.
