Huntington Learning Center has been providing personalized K-12 tutoring and test preparation programs for the past 50 years. With customized programs, flexible scheduling and a proven approach, the center understands that every student learns differently. Its individualized teaching methods are designed to meet each student’s unique needs, helping them build confidence, improve academic skills and achieve better results.
As a result, Huntington Learning Center has become known for its successful teaching strategies and the programs that it offers, including college-admission test preparation focused on the SAT and ACT. With professional tutors and a comprehensive evaluation leading to a personalized learning plan, the program is designed to help students improve their test scores and build the confidence to achieve them.
“We work with a combination of skill development and strategies while building a student’s confidence and motivation to take the test,” says Richard Bernstein, executive director of the Huntington Learning Centers located in Cherry Hill and Turnersville. “With planned practice tests, they get experience which helps to build confidence, therefore cutting down the anxiety that can be produced by college admission testing.”
The method for improving test scores is centered around two core ideas: preparing students for every possible type of question and working one-on-one with each student to master their test-taking abilities. With this approach, there has been a 5.4-point increase in ACT scores as well as a more than 229-point increase in SAT scores, resulting in scholarships for many of the students who utilize the center.
The majority of colleges today expect high test scores among applicants, and having this extra test prep is an indicator that a student is college material.
“It proves college readiness,” Bernstein says. “Studies tell us that high SAT or ACT scores correlate with college success even more than high grades.”
Huntington Learning Center’s Cherry Hill and Turnersville locations, which have been operating for 42 and 29 years, respectively, have allowed students to access this support with schedules that suit their availability.
“This has helped students because we are convenient to reach,” says Bernstein. “We are available online or in person, and we know what kids are learning at the local schools because we work with them day in and day out, year in and year out.”
With the success that comes with this improvement, the positive feedback that Huntington Learning Center receives is a testament to the passion and dedication tutors put into helping students reach new heights.
