Around South Jersey, you’ll find plenty of mouthwatering options to sink your teeth into, including these 10 superb selections that balance comfort and creativity.
Forager Melt at Gouldsburgers in multiple locations
We’re suckers for these two juicy patties of USDA prime beef that are topped with caramelized onions, earthy roasted mushrooms, melty Swiss cheese and finishing touches of a fragrant truffle aioli.
Jalapeño Popper Smash at The Raging Bull in Pennsauken
This burger is bursting at the seams with flavor thanks to a medley of thinly sliced Vidalia onions, jalapeños, strips of bacon, a blend of cheeses, a sweet red chili sauce and a smear of whipped cream cheese for good measure.
Astoria at Farm and Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill
We love this spot for their inventive takes on the classics and this menu offering is no exception. A perfectly seasoned lamb burger is enhanced with crumbles of feta, cucumber, pickled onions and a tahini ketchup.
The Cuban at Red Barn Burgers in Mullica Hill
Combining the best of both worlds, this burger features two double-smashed patties slid in between a toasted Martin’s potato roll along with Swiss cheese, tavern ham, pulled pork, shaved pickles and a Cuban mustard sauce.
Prime Steakhouse at Fleming’s in Marlton
You can never go wrong with one of the stellar steaks here, but may we suggest you consider this signature beef blend outfitted with Wisconsin cheddar, bacon, an addictive red onion confit, tomato, iceberg lettuce and homemade butter pickles.
Fig & Pig at Blue Monkey Tavern in Merchantville
This gastropub is known for their excellent burgers and that includes this concoction made with a house blend of short rib, brisket and chuck beef that is topped with creamy brie and smoked bacon along with arugula and plenty of fig jam.
G Bar at Giumarello’s in Haddon Township
There’s seemingly not a bad option when you sit down to a meal here and that goes especially for this tantalizing burger stuffed into a bun with caramelized onions, cave-aged gruyere cheese and housemade smoked applewood bacon.
Brunch Burger at Dooney’s Pub in Delran and Voorhees
We are always down for brunch, but thankfully you can snag this heavily loaded burger any time you visit. Piled high with smoked bacon, Cooper sharp cheese, tomato, avocado slices and a fried egg, it’s quite the mouthful.
Bang Bang Smash at The PourHouse in Westmont
The smash burger trend shows no signs of slowing down, but few you will find can hold a candle to this amalgamation of peppered bacon, habanero jack ghost pepper cheese, sliced tomato and shredded lettuce with drizzles of bang bang sauce, served on a butter-toasted jalapeño cheddar bun.
Greek Smash at Dory’s in Medford
One of the more unique—and satisfying—burgers you’ll find in South Jersey, this standout showcases two smash patties crowned with shaved gyro meat, a hunk of grilled saganaki cheese, roasted tomatoes, sumac onions, pickles and tzatziki on a brioche bun.
