The Reasons Paul VI is Still Unforgettable
Sometimes we forget to mention that we STILL have...

by Staff

1. A computer science program equipped with building blocks from essentials to Advanced Placement. As a school built to change with the world around us, Paul VI encourages our students to do the same. In partnership with the College Board, for eight years now, our Project Lead the Way Computer Science Program empowers students to enter with minimal experience and to graduate with confidence.

2. Electives, involving real-world applications of scientific analysis. Through Project Lead the Way, in association with the College Board, our Biomedical Science Pathway is structured for those who are inspired to solve global medical problems. For the past five years, these elective courses have allowed students to foster their scientific curiosity with hypothetical scenarios, like containing a medical outbreak or diagnosing patients at a family medical practice. These courses lead the way in preparing our students for innovative solutions in the medical field.

3. An inclusive, fitness-focused sports environment. Since partnering with the University of Notre Dame in 2014, Play Like A Champion Today (PLACT) has promoted the moral and character development of our student-athletes. Through our captains’ course and team service projects, PLACT inspires teamwork and growth. Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE), this program also connects coaches, parents and administrators to strengthen our athletic community.

4. Mentorship that puts students front and center. Our innovative peer mentorship program has been going strong for 23 years now. Through this involvement method, upperclassmen leaders give up their free period to structure an inclusive curriculum intended to help freshmen adjust to their new educational and social atmosphere. Bi-weekly meetings with small groups help strengthen these relationships and create lasting impacts on the welcoming social atmosphere at Paul VI.

5. A unique diploma program that prepares students for collegiate success. Since its implementation in 2017, the AP Capstone Program has allowed students to conduct an independent study of their choice, producing original research, which they orally defend to a panel. Engaging with real-life issues illustrates how students don’t just earn college credit; they learn how to think independently and argue persuasively. These twin concepts are not only a capstone to their academic progress but also a cornerstone to their future academic success.
