As a young girl growing up in Romania, Roxana Maciejeski had a lot of dental problems, so she became a frequent visitor to the dentist’s office. Her own experiences inspired her to become a dentist, driven by a passion to ensure every patient enjoys comfortable, compassionate care.
“I had every procedure done except implants, so I know how everything feels and I understand what our patients go through,” she says. “I had crowns, extractions, braces, root canals, fillings—everything. I spent a lot of time at the dentist, so that’s how I decided I wanted to be a dentist. I love working with my hands and building connections with people, and dentistry allows me to do both. The best part is seeing the joy when we bring a smile back to someone’s face.”
After completing her initial training and education in her home country, Dr. Maciejeski immigrated to the United States and joined her aunt in Las Vegas, where she received her DDS from the UNLV School of Dental Medicine. That is where she met her husband—who was in the Air Force—and they eventually moved to Cinnaminson to be closer to his family.
Last fall, Dr. Maciejeski purchased Evesboro Dental in Marlton, fulfilling her dream of owning and running her own practice. Her goal is to combine the elegance of European dentistry—where offices have all of the latest technology and almost a spa-like setting—with the efficiency and commitment to excellence of the American model.
“We’re coming up on our first anniversary,” Dr. Maciejeski says proudly. “The transition has been wonderful, and we’re grateful that so many patients stayed with us after the previous doctor’s 40 years of care. It’s been a joy to meet them and continue the relationships they’ve built here.”
Evesboro Dental sees patients of all ages and tailors the treatment to each specific set of circumstances. Dr. Maciejeski believes in building trust and rapport with every person who walks through the door, and she can provide a wide range of services in preventive, cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
“Usually the whole family comes in: the kids, the adults and the seniors,” she says. “Anyone with special needs is welcome, and we don’t rush anyone. We listen to their concerns and we try to help people in the way they want to be helped. That’s the most important thing, listening to them.”
As the mother of two young children herself, Dr. Maciejeski enjoys working with young patients and easing their fears. She makes sure they leave with toys or temporary tattoos, and during their visit they can hold on to one of two stuffed animals—a cat named Smiley or a unicorn named Sparkles—to help overcome any anxiety.
“I recommend bringing children as early as possible, probably as early as age 1,” she says. “In the first appointment, It’s not about the exam, it is all about making it the best doctor visit they ever had. We mostly show them how the equipment works and let them make associations with the office so they can get comfortable. If they don’t come for their first visit until they’re 7 or 8, they might have pain from cavities, and that’s when it becomes traumatic. If you come to the dentist and we just clean your teeth and then give you a toy, then it becomes a good experience that you look forward to. It’s also good for the parents to learn about proper care.”
Dr. Maciejeski can also perform laser frenectomies for babies who are tongue-tied, and for teens and adults, she is a Molis-trained provider of Invisalign. Her office is also equipped with a CEREC machine for same-day crowns.
“You can get a crown in 90 minutes, which is great,” she says. “That removes the need for a temporary crown, so you don’t have to come twice and you don’t have to get the needle twice. You are numbed once and everything is done from start to finish. It’s more precise than the ones you have to send out and it’s very convenient.”
Dr. Maciejeski’s future plans include committing the practice to even more of the latest technological advancements in dentistry and modernizing the office, while still remaining a place where the staff greets patients by name as they enter. She hopes to become a fixture in a region that she is happy to call home with her own family.
“We love South Jersey,” she says. “The food is awesome here, there are a lot of things to do, and it’s a nice central location close to Philadelphia, New York and the beach. I really love the people in South Jersey too. It’s a nice community, and all of the towns have special events like the upcoming Evesham Fall Festival, which we are looking forward to participating in.”
