A Safe Haven
With a perfect harmony of clinical and compassionate care, Havenwood Homes at Kresson is a memory care facility with 14 beds that prioritizes individualized attention for each resident.

by Carly Murray

Facing an Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis is inherently a life-changing event that entails having difficult conversations between loved ones and making conscientious decisions to guide the path forward. Nurse Practitioner Naomi Goldman founded Havenwood Homes at Kresson to create a memory care facility that functions as a vibrant community in which residents and their families can feel secure. Through thoughtfully curated programs, amenities and 24/7 care, Havenwood Homes enhances its community’s quality of life.

“I opened this home to make a difference in what is being offered in health care for patients with a dementia diagnosis right now, and to offer something new and innovative to the community. We offer a small, residential-style home, a consistent staff who know the patients well, and a true focus on cognitive stimulating activities for patients to prevent or to delay progression of the disease process,”
says Goldman.

This newer model of care is fully licensed, and Goldman describes Havenwood Homes as “boutique-style” with 14 beds—the benefits of which are generous. The assessment of patients to determine the best path forward is clinical, but it also incorporates a lifestyle analysis to ensure they are optimally healthy and happy.

“As small as we are, each person has their designated job, and they're not overwhelmed with what they have to accomplish. They have time to sit and focus on patients’ and families’ emotional needs, and to create a loving environment,” she continues.

The activities planned at Havenwood Homes are full of joy, excitement and participation. As a tight-knit residence, encouragement is essential and no patient will miss the plentiful opportunities to get involved. Music therapy, pet therapy, yoga and a daily schedule packed with games and creativity are only a few examples of engagement designed to strengthen cognitive functioning. Goldman explains that she plans to incorporate more activities that are proven to help patients, considering a wide variety.

Alongside the near-constant amusement, Havenwood Homes equally focuses on providing a homely environment. Beyond the essentials of medication assistance, safety, housekeeping and laundry, residents are met with emotional support, personalized memory care, restaurant-style dining, and even a salon and spa offering hairstyling, manicures and pedicures. Additionally, the beautiful outdoor space on the property has a large deck and a walking trail.

Havenwood Homes residents and visitors will immediately feel the warmth radiating from the registered nurses on staff, as well as from the environment they establish. Those who live there find both fulfillment and familiarity—within the staff and their individual routines.

“Whatever their needs are—that's on us, that's what we're here for,” affirms Goldman. “At the end of the day, we are going to take the lead on making sure that the patient is safe and cared for physically and medically. …They're continuously evaluated, and if their needs change, we change [or] update what we offer them. So, their health changes are constantly monitored.”

Residents not only feel cared for, but loved, valued and supported by heightened connections and this advanced approach centered upon holistic care.

To truly experience the difference Havenwood Homes makes in the lives of their residents and residents’ families, schedule a private tour or reach out to join the open house event list. Those interested can call, email office@havenwoodhomeshc.com or send an inquiry on Havenwood Homes’ website’s “contact us” page. Goldman also relieves any apprehension by personally meeting prospective patients and their loved ones where they are currently located.

“Come and meet us—it's obviously no commitment to come in and see what we offer by attending the open house or scheduling a private tour,” she affirms. “If they have a hard time leaving their home because they don't have care for their loved one and they want me to come meet them at their home, I certainly can do that as well.”

This golden opportunity is limited to the number of beds available, so confirm a spot as soon as possible.
