With rising energy costs and growing environmental awareness, the solar market has become more competitive than ever. Along with that comes a flood of information. To make smart decisions, homeowners need to be informed—both about the solar process and the company they choose.
AllSeason Solar, one of New Jersey’s top solar installers, is committed to transparency, value and expert service. Using the latest technology, fair pricing, tax incentives and strong warranties, they’ve built a reputation for quality. President Chris DeMasi recommends this checklist to help you confidently navigate the process of “going solar.”
Choose the Right Company
A poorly executed solar project can turn a good investment into a costly mistake. Do your research:
-
How long has the company been in business?
-
Do they have the required state licenses?
-
Do they subcontract installations or perform them in-house?
-
Are they properly insured (workers’ compensation and liability)?
-
Can they provide references? What do their online reviews say?
AllSeason Solar holds both the New Jersey Electrical License and the N.J. Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) License. Unlike many others, they never outsource installations—their trained, in-house team handles everything.
Get a Free Solar Consultation
AllSeason Solar offers a free, no-pressure consultation where an expert evaluates:
-
Your average electricity bill
-
How much sun your home receives
-
The orientation and condition of your roof
“We create a custom solar proposal based on your specific home and energy needs,” says DeMasi. “Then we review it with you to make sure it’s the right fit.”
Sign the Agreement & Get a Site Audit
Once you’re ready to move forward, the next step is signing an agreement. AllSeason then performs a detailed site audit to determine:
-
Your home’s energy requirements
-
The optimal system size
-
Estimated power production
This information is used to create your personalized solar system design.
Understand the Value of Microinverters
While not technically a step, DeMasi highlights the importance of microinverter technology. “At AllSeason, we use microinverters instead of central inverters. They’re more efficient and safer, since they don’t generate high voltage. Each panel performs independently, so if one panel fails, the rest of the system keeps working.”
Finalize Your System Design
After the site audit, a finalized system design is presented for your approval. This includes layout, panel placement, expected output and installation timeline.
Make Sure Your Roof is Ready
Solar panels can help protect your roof from weather damage and add cooling benefits during the summer. If roof-mounted panels aren’t your preference or aren’t feasible, ground-mounted options may be available—depending on your property size and zoning regulations.
Installation & Inspection
Most installations take only a day or two. AllSeason Solar handles obtaining permits, applications and you don’t have to worry about the paperwork—they take care of it all.
Turn on the Power
Once your system is approved and connected, it’s time for the most exciting part—flipping the switch! Your home is now powered by clean, renewable energy.
Enjoy the Benefits
After the panels are installed and activated, it is estimated that homeowners can save an average of $50,000 over a 25-year period and cut their electric bill by as much as 45%.
Then there are the tax incentives. Everyone in the United States receives a 30% federal tax credit against their solar system cost (with tax liability). New Jersey residents receive a renewable-energy credit for every 1,000 kWh they produce, resulting in $85 for each credit. Also, New Jersey residents receive a property tax exemption for the value of their solar system. This means your solar system cannot increase your property tax amount.
The AllSeason Solar Difference
Never outsourcing, AllSeason Solar’s installers are trained and qualified solar professionals. Homeowners can expect quality workmanship and respect for their home. AllSeason offers a 25-year workmanship warranty through the manufacturer that includes the parts and labor for the solar panels, inverters and racking, as well a 25-year roof leak guarantee through the manufacturer. Most companies don’t offer components with labor warranties and their roof leak guarantee is usually five to 10 years through them, the contractor.
“We treat every home like it is our own,” says DeMasi.
