Ray Moorhouse Real Estate Group is more than a realty group—it's a family operation with over half a decade's worth of experience from an unbeatable father-daughter duo, Ashley and Ray Moorhouse.
Getting into the business as a stand-in assistant for her father, Ashley discovered her passion for real estate—helping her father close a dozen deals in her first month. She was intrigued, got her real estate license, and started showing houses, processing files, hosting open houses, and expanded advertising and marketing.
Today, Ashley is stepping up and taking on a bigger role in Ray Moorhouse Real Estate Group as lead listing agent.
South Jersey Magazine spoke to Ashley Moorhouse about the dynamic partnership and how the duo’s unique personalities and commitment to their clients elevate them from the rest.
What lessons have you learned from your father?
One of the greatest gifts of working alongside my dad for the past 18 years has been the wealth of knowledge and wisdom he’s shared with me. With 35 years of experience and over 2,000 transactions, he is a walking real-estate encyclopedia and I’m so lucky for that. There’s no doubt his influence has shaped me into the professional I am today.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from my father is the value of doing things right the first time. Beyond that, his incredible work ethic, commitment to providing top-notch customer service and belief in continually educating yourself in every facet of this business have been invaluable. Above all, he taught me the importance of putting people first.
For my dad and me, success has never been measured by awards or commission checks. Real estate isn’t just about buying and selling homes—it’s about guiding people through one of the most significant decisions of their lives. We focus on the “why” behind every move and ensure our clients feel confident that we’re representing their best interests, as if this move were our own.
What is the key to being a successful realtor?
Being a successful realtor requires a level of self-discipline and motivation. Strong communication and organizational skills sets your business apart because that’s necessary to make every transaction smoother and less stressful for the client. And of course, having thorough knowledge of the market, staying informed about trends and always being prepared are key. Success doesn’t come overnight, but by consistently putting in the effort, being reliable and personalizing the experience, you earn clients’ trust, and trust is good business. We are committed to staying adaptable since every transaction is different. We are ready to pivot based on the needs of clients or the market. Passion for the work and a genuine desire to help others is our mantra.
How do you ensure you stand out from other realtors?
Personally, I’m a very tough critic and my perfectionism is what drives me in every aspect of my business. I want the absolute best experience for my clients—whether it’s the best marketing plan to achieve the best price for my sellers or the best buying strategy so my buyers’ offers are at the top of the pile—and I’m constantly perfecting my technique based on my many experiences. At this point, I've been a part of over 1,600 transactions so my process is methodical and proven, and I lay out our entire roadmap from start to finish. I don't take any opportunity for granted, and as such, spend hours preparing for my appointments. I also invest a lot of up-front money in marketing my listings because I know it's effective and how I’d want my own home marketed.
Working together as a family team has allowed us to create an environment where we treat our clients as if they’re part of our own family. There's a deep sense of trust and loyalty in everything we do and I add a personal touch into every transaction. Our clients get a kind of care and attention that’s hard to replicate—where their needs come first, and we go the extra mile because we genuinely care about their success.
