The Kingdom of Speed is getting a holiday makeover heading into the most wonderful time of the year.
Bridgeport Motorsports Park, known throughout South Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and beyond for its exciting brand of racing and affordable family entertainment, is excited to bring to you the Celebration of Lights, a holiday light show, from Nov. 29 through Dec. 29. Since the racing season has concluded for the 2024 year, it is the perfect time to pivot and offer something for families to get into the holiday spirit.
As you drive through the 1.25-mile lane, you can expect a spectacular show featuring Santa Claus, his reindeer, snowmen and some of your other favorite holiday characters.
Owners Doug and Brittany Rose have taken over the holiday light spectacular and are eager to share a brand-new version with area residents.
“We’re very excited for it,” Doug says. “The first couple of years a company rented the space and did their own show and it wasn’t up to par with what we envisioned or hoped for. So, we purchased our own displays and we’re doing everything ourselves now.
“In the past the displays were on the smaller size, but this year we made sure there are a lot of bright, vibrant, oversized and high-quality light displays. We have tunnels and grand archways to drive through and the buildings will be lit up to make it look like a small town.
“It’s not just all Christmas and Hanukkah—there are even construction site vehicles, for example, and we’ll have racecars lit up too.”
Bridgeport is also a host to many other special events throughout the year on its 83-acre property, such as monster truck shows that are always a big hit, and debuting in 2025, a tractor pull and much more.
But for now, the focus is on the Celebration of Lights. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door, with the prices increasing to $25 and $30 during the week of Christmas. The Roses, parents of two young children who adore everything holiday-related, are confident that their own kids and others will be mesmerized by the show.
“Our kids are 3 and 5 and they’re really into everything about the holidays,” Brittany says. “They’re excited to go through the lights at the Speedway as we usually take them through a few each year and they have a blast with them, and we’re hoping other families will feel the same way about the Celebration of Lights.”
“People don’t decorate like they used to back in the day—now it’s just a few houses here and there,” Doug adds. “It’s nice to have something like this, where the family can drive through for $20 and have a good time.”
Conveniently located right off I-295 in Logan Township and often referred to by its nickname, The Kingdom of Speed, Bridgeport boasts a high-banked dirt oval and offers weekly racing featuring sprint cars and modifieds. The drivers are friendly and approachable and interact with fans before and after each race.
