Shine On
While some are too distracted by the bright lights of the slot machines, there’s more to see in Atlantic City than the inside of a casino. And since its first lighting in 1857, the Absecon Lighthouse has been one of the most beautiful landmarks the city has to offer. This year marks the lighthouse’s 154th birthday, and everyone’s invited for cake and a free climb to the top. Jan. 15, 1 p.m., 31 S. Rhode Island Ave., Atlantic City, (609) 449-1360, AbseconLighthouse.org

Jan. 15, 10 a.m. at 4501 Board??walk, Wildwood, (609) 729-9000, NJPolarPlunge.org.
