With nearly 40 years of experience, Alan Bacho, OD is well-equipped to diagnose and treat many eye ailments, from worsening eyesight to cataracts and glaucoma. Alan graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1986 and continues to care for patients at his own practice, Bacho Family Eye Care, which he opened in 2016.

His son, David Bacho, spent time learning from his father, eventually working at the office as a technician and a scribe before obtaining his doctorate in optometry and beginning to see patients in 2021.

Now the pair work together at Bacho Family Eye, where they make it their mission to maintain a professional, friendly and fun atmosphere, consistently going above and beyond to provide exceptional patient care.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Advanced Eye Care

Bacho Family Eye Care is dedicated to utilizing the latest diagnostic technologies to ensure your eye exams are as accurate, efficient and comfortable as possible. Bacho Family Eye’s advanced equipment enables them to detect eye diseases and disorders that might go unnoticed with standard techniques, allowing for earlier intervention and superior care—far surpassing traditional methods.

An example is the iCare Tonometer. It replaces the uncomfortable “puff test” for glaucoma screening with a puff-free, drop-free approach, enhancing patient comfort and making early detection less intimidating.

“By having the newest technology, we're able to give the patients the best care possible,” says Alan. “The technology aids us in early detection and diagnosis of eye diseases, thus helping to prevent larger problems later on; the earlier you detect a problem, the easier it is to fix.”

“The nice thing is also being able to show a patient what you’re seeing,” adds David. “The new technology benefits the patients because it allows us to really explain what is going on with their health.”

Customized Lens and Eyewear Solutions

If corrective lenses are needed, Bacho Family Eye provides an assortment of options. From traditional or trendy to designer or budget, the optical department has an extensive selection of frames to satisfy the personal style and look of every patient. If contact lenses are preferred, Bacho Family Eye is prepared to accommodate most patients in just one visit. This includes daily, multifocal and lenses for astigmatism. They even cater to the needs of those with specialty contact lenses.

Addressing the Rise in Dry Eye Disease

Dry Eye Disease (DED) is increasingly common, affecting both younger and older adults. Recent research from Ashton University shows a comparable amount of meibomian gland loss among young adults aged 18-25 and older populations aged 50+, contributing to discomfort and potential long-term problems.

Bacho Family Eye Care uses MDelite’s iProX IPL and iLightPro systems for dry eye therapy. These noninvasive treatments reduce inflammation and microorganism buildup in and around the eye, providing enhanced comfort and promoting lasting ocular health.

Emphasis on Prevention and Education

Regular eye exams remain essential, even for those without vision complaints. Eye conditions can cause significant vision loss before symptoms are noticed, making routine checkups critical for early intervention.

“You actually can lose up to 50-80% of your vision before you notice anything is wrong, so we want to make sure we catch [it] before it becomes a problem,” says David

Every exam at Bacho Family Eye includes thorough patient education, the team takes time to explain all results and answer questions.

“We try to educate our patients each time they're here,” says Alan.

The practice’s philosophy is to treat patients as they would their own family, ensuring every visit is informative and reassuring.
