Paul VI: A Home Away From Home
A comfortable school setting allows students to thrive in more ways than one.

by Staff

With its latest open house a glowing memory, Paul VI offers a few reminders of what makes its “house” a “home.”

There’s always coffee.
This usually applies to faculty, and the teachers certainly appreciate the abundant supply of java, but coffee is more than a beverage at Paul VI. In addition to the expected plays and concerts, student vocal and instrumental talent is showcased at the PVI coffee houses. If there’s anything that can possibly make a heartfelt performance resonate more, it’s the school’s cozy café, and a cup of the house blend.

You can curl up by the “fireplace” with a good book.
The Paul VI media center holds one of the largest print collections of area high schools, along with a well-curated list of magazine subscriptions. There are comfy chairs, pretty views, and a large screen  with the fireplace screen saver crackling away–and knowledgeable, intuitive librarians to recommend the perfect read.

The kitchen is always open.
Can we ever say enough about the dining hall? The menu starts with the morning breakfast sandwiches, moves smoothly into the lunchtime spectrum of salads, specialty entrees and the renowned Toast Post offerings and finishes strong with the after-school grab and go made possible by the angels of the Toast Post.  For those days when you absolutely have to have a grilled cheese, and the other days when you want something, but don’t quite know exactly what, there’s always a freshly prepared solution served with care and a smile in the Paul VI dining hall.

There’s always someone to listen.
There are guidance counselors of course, as well as the school’s mental health counselor.  On the less official side, there are the ladies at the Toast Post who remember you like chipotle and that your playoff game is tomorrow.  And on the most official Catholic school side,  there is the chapel, which stays open all day after the early Mass, providing students with a moment for quiet prayer, a bit of  reflection, and the largest possible certainty that yes, someone is listening.
