Residents of South Jersey who are seeking a safe and comfortable place to call home as they age are fortunate to have a number of options to choose from, including a wide range of senior living communities that offer all of the support they need. But the newest community to hit the area—The Farmstead at Medford—is taking the idea of a “worry-free lifestyle” for seniors to a whole other level with its blend of upscale amenities and 24-hour on-site security on a picturesque, 56-acre campus surrounded by natural beauty.
In fact, it almost feels like a vacation that never has to end with countless opportunities for relaxation and entertainment.
“We’re a family here,” says Executive Director Ed Farrington. “It’s all about hospitality at a premier level.”
Locally owned and operated by fourth-generation residents of Medford—The Farmstead is designed to create a five-star experience along with peace of mind for both its residents and their families.
Welcoming its first residents upon opening at the end of 2023, The Farmstead’s all-inclusive apartment pricing includes everything from meals to activities and utilities to concierge services.
All-inclusive living
The Farmstead features one- and two-bedroom apartments that includes kitchens along with a washer and dryer, and Verizon internet and television. For those interested, there are also landline phones, and a quick call to Farmstead’s team will take care of any maintenance issues.
Dining is always an important aspect of a senior living community, and The Farmstead goes above and beyond in that regard. Residents have their choice of enjoying chef-prepared meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner at three different venues: The Bistro, Peacock Pub or a formal dining room. All have table service with a standard menu, rotating specials and seasonal soups.
Not feeling up to snuff? A warm bowl of chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwich can be brought to an apartment. Room service isn’t standard, but even Farrington himself will make it happen if a guest is in need.
Social programs and activities
Cozying up in a beautiful Farmstead apartment is a great way to spend a day—but the community is bursting with other opportunities, too.
The Farmstead utilizes 17 acres of its 56-acre property, giving residents ample outdoor areas for walks and exercise. The remaining 39 acres have been conveyed to the township and will be permanently preserved as open space, ensuring the incredible views and ties to nature won’t ever go away.
“Our owners were born and raised in the Medford Township location,” Farrington says. “And the open space is great not only for our residents, but for the local community to have that space that will stay there.”
The outdoor area offers plenty of opportunities to spend time with neighbors or friends, whether lounging by the fire pit, taking a walk on a scenic path or playing a game of bocce. Indoors, residents can take advantage of the state-of-the-art fitness center, chair yoga sessions, and a hair and nail salon. There’s a multipurpose room for games and cards, and even a movie theater.
And of course, there’s a large popcorn machine.
“You can’t watch a movie without buttered popcorn!” Farrington says with a laugh.
An on-site partnership with Bayada Home Health Care ensures residents can get health concerns easily addressed, too.
“As your premier choice in senior living, our community is designed to provide a five-star experience to our residents,” Farrington says. “Whether looking for yourself or a loved one, The Farmstead provides a worry-free lifestyle with peace of mind. From our chef-prepared meals to our 24-hour, on-site security, we provide the convenience for our residents to choose their days they way.”
A worry-free way of life
What it all adds up to is worry-free living for Farmstead residents—and their families, too. Above all else, Farrington wants residents to feel safe, serviced and comfortable while living at The Farmstead.
“This is their new home,” he says. “We want to take care of them to the best of our ability and make it the premier senior living in Medford.”
