Eric Schubert , a 22 - year - old Medford genealogist , helped investigators match DNA to the suspect in the murder of 9 - year - old Marise Ann Chiverella in Hazelton , Pennsylvania , in 1964 , beginning his work on this case as a college student in 2020 . The perpetrator was ultimately confirmed by genetic material extracted from a family member discovered through genealogical databases , and matched to DNA found on Chiverella . Sources claim that this is the oldest cold case in the state to be cracked with this methodology , as it was unsolved for 58 years . For his work , Schubert appeared on the Oct . 28 episode of Bloodline Detectives with Nancy Grace .
