SJM_EditorsNote_7_22_EditorsNote 7 / 21 / 22 3 : 25 PM Page 1 EDITOR’S NOTE TOO HARD TO CHOOSE People in this area love to ask others what “ their I could go on and on about my times back in high school Shore town ” is . I’m never sure how to answer heading to LBI for the weekend where one of my close friends that . I’ve made so many lasting memories over had a summer home . Or walking the boards in Ocean City , the course of my lifetime in so many different soakingup the sun in Sea Isle , etc . I just don’t have enough space towns that I truly believe the sum is greater than here to cover it all . the parts in this instance . But I would be remiss if I didn’t ’ give some special love to North When I was younger , m y family headed Wildwood , the Shore town where I really came of age . One of my down to Avalon each year to share a house with best friend’s families had a home there and so I was often a some of my parents ’ closest friends and their guest — sometimes uninvited — and spent many nights at children . Today , I rarely see any of those folks we shared quarters Keenan’s , chowing down on Sam’s and hanging out with the rol - with all those years ago , but I can still envision everything about lickingolder crowd at Westy’s . But the island will forever be special the house . The one room with bunk beds , the giant porch , the tome because it’s where I met my wife . Much like other times outdoor shower and so on . I can remember crawling under the spent at the Shore , I remember the night vividly . house to play hide - and - go - seek . I remember the book store The Shore has that kind of funny effect on me . Despite the around the corner and the store I would walk to so I could get a many trips I’ve taken down the Parkway , there’s always something pack of baseball cards . Sometimes when I’m in town , I drive by new no matter how familiar the scenery is . And that’s why I love the old house and wonder if the people inside are enjoying it as it all . I hope to see you around this summer ! much as I once did . Cape May was always a popular day trip destination for my family . We’d head down , park in the Acme across from the Wash - Kind regards , ington Street Mall and just spend the day catching some rays , shopping and snacking . When my son was still in diapers , his first trip to the Shore was a day trip to Cape May . We parked in the same Acme lot , walked the same sidewalks before settling into the Mad Batter for a bite to eat . It felt nostalgic and new all at once . Peter J .
