Bring the whole gang to the 5th Annual “Cruisin’ for a Cause” Classic Car Show & Cookout for Alzheimer’s. The free show features more than a hundred vintage cars from the early to mid-1900s, accompanied by music from the same period, all topped off with a delicious cookout. Proceeds from the event will benefit the South Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for education and research, so come enjoy the blast from the past while supporting an important cause. At the Artists and Books exhibition, Perkins Center for the Arts showcases artists that blend the visual arts and books and explores their journeys. All-Stars
There will be some very special guests at Katz JCC Third Annual Sports Award Dinner on Sept. 11. Doug Collins, head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, and U.S. Olympic gold medalist and captain of the now-famous gymnastics team Aly Raisman will be the featured speakers for the evening. Proceeds from the dinner—which includes a sports memorabilia auction—go to providing financial services for children in areas such as sports leagues, nutrition counseling, obesity programs, and special needs fitness and aquatics programs. Beautiful Music
Symphony in C, the Camden-based South Jersey orchestra, kicks off its 60th anniversary celebration with a young local performer. Pianist Di Wu, the 2013 winner of the Young Composer’s Competition, will perform Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s famous Sixth Symphony. Healthy Choice
You might want to stretch before heading over to enjoy a full day of fun at South Jersey Healthcare’s 2nd Annual Family Sports Day. The free event is packed with activities all based around our area’s favorite sports teams. Shake your hips with the Philadelphia Sixers Dancers, and have a ball when you meet the Camden Riversharks mascot Finley as well as the former Phillie Darren Daulton. There will also be food and games, along with health screenings and healthy living displays to teach the whole family the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle.
