Voorhees native Devin Smeltzer, a Bishop Eustace graduate, made his MLB debut against the Milwaukee Brewers in late May. The Minnesota Twins pitcher and cancer survivor is the fourth starter in the team’s history to throw six shutout innings in his major-league debut.
 
The Mount Laurel Township Police Department’s K-9 unit earned top honors at the U.S. Police Canine Association’s National Detector Dog Trails, making them one of the top units in the nation.
 
Nonprofit group Leapfrog announced their spring 2019 state safety grade rankings and three Camden County hospitals received an A grade: Jefferson Cherry Hill, Jefferson Stratford and Our Lady of Lourdes.

A man was arrested for allegedly interrupting service for Verizon customers in South Jersey. He was charged with stealing copper wire to sell as scrap and for interrupting service.
